Q. What is a rootkit?
A. A rootkit is any set of tools that can be used to gain unauthorized access to a system. A popular rootkit is Hacktool.Rootkit which is used to install backdoors on systems. They are made up of a variety of programs and scripts that break into systems and attempt to hide evidence of the intrusion.
Q. My computer is running very slowly; do I have a virus?
A. Maybe, but your computer could also just be in need of routine maintenance such as cleaning out browser cache, running Scandisk & Defrag on your hard disk, and/or cleaning out Temp folders.
Q. I am running Windows 98. How do I know if I can upgrade to Windows XP?
A. I can check your system hardware and software to see if it's ready for upgrade to Windows XP.
Q. Why is my monitor flickering?
A. Monitor flicker, jitter, or a shaky image can be caused by a variety of factors. Your monitor should be positioned away from any large speakers, air conditioning units, fluorescent lights, neon lights, refrigerators, AC adapters, and any other devices that may emit electromagnetic interference. This can even include radar from a nearby airport. If you experience monitor flicker, jitter, or a shaky image, try relocating your monitor. Also use a different electrical outlet and check for any changes in your display.
Q. A CD is stuck in the drive. How do I get it out?
A. There should be a small hole below your CD tray.  Using a paper clip, force it into the hole and the tray will open automatically.
